Oh, look. I've committed Korra fanfic again. This will be a series of one shots, episode-by-episode shippy in inspiration. I'll say no more than that.

(Except at FF.N I've titled it "Tag, You're it!" Hey, why not?) ;-)

“I’m Korra. Your new Avatar.”

Like everyone, Mako listened attentively to the radio. There weren’t too many people in the arena this time of day— a few trainers, support staff, and maintenance people, but everyone who was there was in the room.

The broadcast was short. The fact that they cut her off so quickly told Mako almost as much as what they had let her say. Possibly more.

“She really took on Triads?” he asked his brother quietly. He’d heard there’d been trouble yesterday, but there was trouble every day. He hadn’t bothered learning anything more about it.

“I know, right?!” Bolin exclaimed. “How cool is that?”

How green is that? Mako wondered privately.

He spent the rest of the afternoon curiously perusing the various newspapers for reports of the previous day’s scuffle. Based on all the property damage, it was clear she was powerful. Her sunny voice was dripping with naivety, evident even through the flattening power of the airwaves.

The Avatar. She had been discovered as a child, cloistered away, protected, given every comfort. So different from his own childhood. Yet she too came from humble beginnings.

People still talked every day of the glory days of Avatar Aang. How everything had been better. Peace, justice, and all that. Could it really be that simple? This new Avatar: reckless, naïve, powerful, bright, gutsy—

Optimism wasn’t really Mako’s thing. But he was intrigued. Yes, intrigued. That was a good word for it. In any case, it wasn’t like it would affect him directly.

He turned his focus back to the tournament.

I've already got an idea for episode two. And I'm contemplating translating them into Spanish, since I'll have that agonizing week by week wait thing going on.

I love this show so much!!!!!

HEE! I love it!

I like the idea of them meeting over the airwaves. Seems fair, as that's how she met him. :)

Good point! I hadn't thought of it that way! :-)

Also, as far as "jumping on the ship" goes, well, I ship it. And if it takes a surprising non-romantic turn, it's clearly still a ship of much writery possibility. ;-)

Oh, I hadn't thought about Kate's comments of meeting over the airwaves going both ways, but it is a nice touch. I like that he thought Korra wouldn't affect his life, LOL.

I ship this so much. It's so hard NOT to, and I usually try to wait to be sure it'll be shipped, but FJDKLJFDLJFL THEY ARE SO AWESOME.

And with that, you've perfectly captured Mako's voice. Nice.
